Thoroughbred floats have been manufactured for over 30 years and the last 22 years by Tony and Ngarie Maddaford who in June 07 sold the business to Chris and Tracey Blackmore-Sorrell.
Chris and Tracey have bred horses for the past 15 or so years, from Thoroughbreds for the race track to Hanoverians for the Dressage arena. They both ride and Tracey competes sucessfully in Dressage. This industry knowledge means that they know what your horse, and you as a rider and handler require to make floating a safe and pleasurable experience. They not only build the floats but they use the product as well, which means you can rest assured that the product is the best they can possibly be.
Everyone associates the Thoroughbred name with good quality floats and recognise the "classic" Thoroughbred look. On the face of it it appears that the floats have not changed over the 30 years they have been in production. But behind the scenes they have changed dramatically in an effort to continually improve the product, making it the best float on the market today.
Under Chris and Tracey's ownership Thoroughbred is now coming into the 21st century and expanding its product range to include the increasingly popular Angle load float, with the same quality standard features of the Throughbred Straight Load float that has made it NZ's most popular float. Angle loads may be a new product range to Thoroughbred but with Chris and Traceys experience in both manufacturing and using Angle loads you can be assured that the Thoroughbred Angle load has been well thought out and combines the best of everything making floating a safe and pleasurable experience for you and your horse. The range has now also been expanded to include the new Premier Straight load which is wider and longer to accomodate larger horses or those who just need a bit more room to travel comfortably in a straight load float.
